Nosferatu
I have so much to say about this movie.
I'm gonna start with the obvious: Robert Eggers is a genuis. The atmosphere, the writing, the pacing, and every single scene was crafted to utter perfection. Specifically, the cinematography was among some of the best I have encountered.
I want to talk two things that really make this movie stand out: the performances and the dialogue. Of course, Lilly Rose Depp was SUBLIME. Gave a phenomenal performance, I adored her character. Now, Nicholas Hoult was also sensational, but he truly always is. AND BILL SKARSGARD OH MY GOD. I cannot BELEIVE that transformation....from no angle did it look like him. Willem Dafoe was FANTASTIC but I mean did I expect any less? Absolutely not.
However, the character that really brought this movie together for me was Aaron Taylor Johnson's. I thought he was one of the best of the cast in this movie and I am so surprised to see he did not get more praise. He did such a good job portraying grief in the final act (the shot of him with the coffin was HAUNTINGLY beautiful).
Finally, I genuinely think this movie had some of the best portayal of gothic medieval times with its dialogue. Everything flowed SOO well, which I was not expecting given THAT voice come out of Orloks character. Overall, I had such a good time with this movie; it was haunting, gothic, yet so so magical. Truly an amazing adaptation.
