Past Lives
"You dream in a language I can't understand. It's like there's this whole place inside of you where I can't go."
that scene where Arthur was like, "i'm just some random dude you met in the artists' residency... if you met some other random dude you'd be here with him" hit me SO HARD... kasi frankly, my current college friends are literally just some random blocmates i happened to sit with for lunch two weeks ago, and we just decided to stick around, because it's convenient having people to stick around with when you're currently adjusting in a strange place. i like them, i do consider them my friends, and i've been enjoying all the silly stuff we've done together— but it's making me wonder too, yenno? what if i decided to sit with other people during that specific lunch period? what kind of friendships would i have been enjoying recently?
and what would happen once we're no longer blocmates? when it's no longer "convenient" to be around each other, when we'd already have to actively make effort to meet? would we do that? would we think it's worth it?
anyway. so much to think about in this film. so glad i watched this in the small block of free time i have today :)
