Paper Moon

this was so so so good. what a screenplay, zero fat whatsoever. tatum and ryan have an insane amount of chemistry together and them being a father and daughter in real life makes the whole thing even better. addie is incredibly smart and tough for her age but has a sentimental and empathetic heart, two things moze ignores in his own personality because of his experience in the field. this does wonders for their dynamic in this movie. the ‘tough guy needs to care for a little girl’ trope is very common nowadays but this felt very fresh and was never too sentimental because that wouldn’t fit either of the two characters which made the tone perfect.  ‘the damn bridge is the other way’‘what?!’ excellent line reading, tatum. oscar winner at age 10 for a reason.
