Arrival

THIS IS WHY I LOVE MOVIES.  Maybe heaven is just Arrival (2016) playing on a loop in imax with bottomless popcorn and drinks. This is a modern miracle of filmmaking. Aside from the obvious I have to point out the fucking sound design in this movie is bonkers and the way Denis portrays massive things (i.e the Feyd-Rautha gladiator scene as well as the shells) is absolutely next level. The sheer quantity of emotions Denis Villenueve is capable of making you feel in 2-3 hours is staggering as well; a really unique consistency across his films. And the aliens were TERRIFYING but so fucking beautiful, their reveal took my breath away. This was the shit.
