🎃Spooktober🎃 Film #40: At a base in Antarctica, a group of American scientists are disturbed by a helicopter shooting at a dog. However something is wrong with the dog. Turning into a monster and attacking both dogs and humans. Will the crew be able to stop the spread of this disease? Holy hell… this was one of the most badass horror films ever made!! Kurt Russel lighting a bunch of ugly ass aliens on fire is tight! But on a serious note this is a great film! I mean John Carpenter and horror go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly! While I personally don’t think so, there is a strong argument that this is his best film he made (I still believe Halloween is his best, but I’m biased since that is one of my all time favorites). What makes it especially mind blowing is the practical VFX used in this film. I mean damn near 30 years ahead of its time!! I love the isolation vibes of this being in Antarctica. I think horror films (especially Sci-Fi horror) should use Antarctica more. There’s just so little that we know and it makes for a great film. If you haven’t seen this, WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE? Drop everything and go watch it right now!!
