Signs
There's a saying I think about a lot when watching movies, especially bad ones.
"Every movie is a miracle."
And as I trudged through some of M. Night's filmography that didn't work for me, Signs comes at the absolute perfect moment to make me feel washed in the blood. Reborn and seeing him in a new light.
I will never not love a story around a priest struggling with his own faith. It's such the perfect story to me. So human and heartbreakingly contradictory. Even an atheist wants to see a godly Christian.
Such a tender exploration of the meaning of a force or being larger, literally and figuratively, than us has on the human psyche. The search for answers in an world that refuses to give us a straight response. The expansion of visibility in a recorded world and the traumatic way that opens our world.
And it's funny as hell to boot.
