One Battle After Another
Great movie, incredibly funny, a message that is pressingly important in our day and age but I’d like to step back from that for a second.
I’ve been going to the AFI Silver since I was a kid. I’ve seen countless movies there, had experiences many people don’t get the chance to have, and grown into my own as a lover of film in the soft seats of its three beautiful theaters.
But it has often been the case that I’ve been sitting in those theaters as one of maybe ten, and each and every time I walk in there, I feel a creeping fear that the theater I love might not have a whole lot more time left in the tank.
And then I walked in there tonight, and I saw a packed out theater rife with the buzz of chatter and excitement, and I found myself unable to hide my smile as I walked down the aisles in my struggle to find a seat.
The movie theater is a special place, capable of capturing wonder in a way that no where else quite can, and I was reminded of that tonight. Support your local theater and go see movies, including this one, it’s really fucking good.
