Oppenheimer
What a cinematic masterpiece!! Unarguably one of Nolan’s best works yet and the second best (after interstellar) on my list. Once the movie started I was amazed by the sound and score of the movie. Really shook me to my core. I think it really secures it’s Oscar for best sound & score as it should. Nolan’s directing is absolutely one of a kind and really captivating and no u shouldn’t be intelligent enough to understand the movie. For a 3 hour movie I thought the rhythm would be slow but I was proved wrong as I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout the entire 3 hours. Talk about casting??? The amazing cast led by Cillian Murphy who to be honest is my first time seeing a work of his. His acting was amazing (not outstanding but still amazing) he was able to express emotions with his eyes and face alone without any words. Then came Florence Pugh who with little screen time did much of an outstanding performance which honestly deserves a nomination. Robert Downey Jr. yet again proves that he can still act!!!! His acting was immense and pretty sure secured a place for bets supporting actor. And now bowing the hat for Emily blunt, who was snubbed a lot from the academy (the devil wears Prada, a quiet place) and I really think this is her time to at least get a nomination for once and for all!! A nomination for which she absolutely deserves for portraying such a character like that. Matt Damon, another talented actor was amazing in his role too (nothing spectacular but quiet good actually) and loved the presence of rami malek too. In a nutshell, hands down best casting I’ve seen this year (yet). Now talking about cinematography, I for sure decided to go imax for the 70mm imax film camera Nolan used for the movie and of course I didn’t regret it. Cinematography was beyond spontaneous and absolutely mesmerizing. screenplay was amazing, not the best, but was quiet noteworthy. Nolan not only deserves nominations for best picture, best adapted screenplay & best director but at least a win (which imo should go for best director). Last but not least, I highly recommend everyone to watch this movie!!
