27 Dresses
I GET IT. it’s peak eldest daughter core and i don't even know how to put it into words properly but i felt everything jane felt so deeply, i know exactly how it feels when you constantly have to put everyone else first before yourself… you just can't say no to people because the thought of disappointing them is so much worse than the toll it takes on you.
the part that really got to me was when she literally let go of her mother’s wedding dress just so her sister could wear it to marry her own crush like she was basically handing over her own happiness and her most precious memories on a silver platter just to keep things together and make someone else smile.. it’s such a specific kind of hurt when you're always the reliable one and the one who shows up for everyone while your own feelings are just tucked away until they don't even seem to matter anymore.
this movie isn’t just a romcom to me, it feels like a mirror to that endless cycle of being everyone’s support system and never being the one who gets taken care of.. i feel so drained for her and for anyone who lives their life like this (including me)
it’s a lot to carry.
