2 men, one with unrecognizable talent and an insatiable ego driven to insanity because of the fact his work is “unremarkable” or “too much,” in the eyes of the ordinary. Another man, one green with envy, driven to insanity because of the fact he was gifted with the ability to recognize the other’s talent, but unable to reproduce it himself. He watches during the other’s operas, in disdain. Jealousy pouring from his face as if he were watching his true love be ripped from his arms. This epic is genuinely incomparable to anything I have ever watched. And I watched it on my phone. On a plane. I cannot imagine how it would be watching this in a theatre on 70mm film. I knew the score was going to be incredible, but the significance of every scene oh my god. I could feel the enviousness pouring from him in every scene. The powerlessness in every facial expression. The religious significance. And the final composing scene with Mozart on his death bed oh my goodness. You can finally see satisfaction on Salieri’s face not because of the fact Mozart is dead, but because of the fact he was able to even help convey what he believed was God’s voice in the form of music. Also the set design and costume design were both incredible. So much effort put into the characters outfits especially. Felt like a true period piece.  Every time Salieri and Mozart were on the screen together it was absolute fireworks. This movie is easily in my top 5. Jesus maybe even my top 3. Absolutely stunning. 5/5.

watched this in japan with chud friend. i really really like the first half of the movie and jean gray is an interesting character. but i hate the way she is portrayed and gives her no room to grow as phoenix which is one of my only bad takeaways. peter gets great development in this movie and i love the punisher. i also hate sadie sink as a casting choice but i guess she plays jean gray alright. i just hate the way they adapted jean gray, this is NOT the powers of phoenix 😭😭
