Enter the Void
Gaspar Noe takes us into a luminous sensory show, a true ode to life, death and reincarnation. “Enter the Void” stands out for its cinematic and impactful approach, recreating past and present through a juxtaposition of lived moments and memories. Unique, touching, daring, experimental and extraordinarily impressionistic without being redundant, this film is moving thanks to the controversial genius of Gaspar Noe. The fx work is simply phenomenal, the effects and the connections are magical. In my opinion, visually it is a demonstration of how to make sequences on the fringes of what is done in mainstream cinema. Behind its layers of decadence and perversion of the Japanese underworld lies a deep reflection on the meaning of human existence and the timeless despair of our humanity in the face of fear of the afterlife. A unique and fascinating personal perspective.
For the first viewing, it was a big slap in the face, I knew Gaspar Noe for his great titles but I had never heard of this film, a little less highlighted in his filmography, yet which I consider to be his best ever do.
