Adolescence
A chillingly accurate portrayal of the damage and distortion social media is inflicting on today's youth. This limited series addresses a very serious problem, which is a main contributor to the mental health crisis happening all over the globe. Apart from its message, the series has some exceptional performances, especially from Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham. Both depicted their roles extremely well, from a psychologically troubled child to a vulnerable, heartbroken father. Philip Barantini’s ambitious choice to film each episode in a single take pays off, resulting in consistently authentic and immersive scenes. Not to mention, the writing is brilliant—making hour long, dialogue driven episodes feel like ten minutes. Hopefully, this will serve as a wake-up call to those blind to the reality of the many issues stemming from social media use.
