The Substance
That yellow coat was a whole character. It had a storyline on its own.
This film isn't for everyone, but if you get it, you get it, and you don’t, you’re missing out. It's a powerful allegory about the lengths women go to for the sake of beauty, and Demi Moore's performance is especially poignant, highlighting the self-loathing that can plague even the most stunning women in their pursuit of an unattainable ideal. The gore is intense but serves to illustrate the self-destructive nature of chasing perfection.
Demi Moore getting into Best Actress for The Substance would be one of the most inspired Oscar nominations in decades. She's never been nominated before, this is the performance of her career, and she 100% deserves it. I know the category is stacked, but OMG would that be amazing. It's time for the Academy to recognize this icon, and I'm crossing my fingers (and toes!) that they do.
There was not one single dull moment in the entire film. I couldn't even overhype it if I tried. 5 Fucking Stars!
