Full Metal Jacket
What a movie, it's technically a war movie but instead of the war...it focuses on the soldiers and the people.
From the start there's a comedic sense tot his movie which is handled perfectly along with stellar acting from the cast, it never feels to forced and it also doesn't overpower the main plot of the movie.
It is later in the movie you realize that this isn't a Comedy movie...it's a horror movie, it's about the horrors of wars and how does it show that? It makes you feel like a member of the marine corps. The movie starts off not in the battlefield but in a marine camp, it makes you think that you're training with these people...and during the fights, it makes you think like you're fighting with these people. This is shown by the shaking of the camera and long cuts that give you a tense feeling that give you goosebumps.
This movie utilizes the sense of tension in a perfect way, it doesn't go too big like in other war movies...instead it goes small. The final conflict in this movie is between a single sniper, and yet there's just that sense of fear and worry for these people that has you on the edge of your seats.
Once again, an amazing movie.
