Before Sunrise
Please tell me they met again in 6 months I don’t think I can live without knowing. For the sake of my sanity, they 100% did meet again in December, I mean why wouldn’t they after the perfect day.
“Say goodbye.”
“Bye.”
“Au revoir.”
“Later.”
I actually recalled this exact layout of dialogue from their ‘phone a friend’ conversation which made me so sad. Of course it was inevitable but still the sudden realisation from the two also made me realise it was their first and last official night together; with the possible consideration of another night but we don’t know…
I’ve never been so focused on anything like this, they instantly clicked from the moment in the train to their last moments. Their instantaneous chemistry with one another created beautiful dialogue scenes that not only grew their connection but also entertained me. The back and forth is mesmerising, keeping me interested and thinking about every word that was said by the two; especially Jesse with his numerous anecdotes and amazing storytelling. Hence, the combination of the millions of conversations and deep intimacy produces a wonderful love story, with the only drawback being it only lasted for one night. It saddens me so much that all their joy and growth with each other only occurred in the span of a day, and the convenience that they met and eventually went on a vast journey in Vienna is astonishing. That final scene will and shall forever be the end of me, the multiple moments of realisation near the end of their time also will be the end of me; you just know that they’re made for each other.
“It’s just, it’s depressing no? That the only thing we’re gonna think of is, when we’re gonna have to say goodbye tomorrow.”
“Well you can say goodbye now, you know we’re not gonna have to worry about it in the morning.”
“Now?”
“Yeah, say goodbye.”
“Bye.”
“Goodbyeee.”
“…. Au revoir.”
“Later.”
I love this movie to the craziest extents imaginable. I loved this movie, I love this movie and I will forever love this movie. Everything about it is crafted so wonderfully, I never wanted it to end. If only it didn’t end so then I could watch it forever and ever and ever. Nothing is infinite though, just like Jesse said, “everything is so finite,” so it had to end, and I have to accept it as something to look back on in happiness; sort of how they both will look back on what a beautiful day they had with each other, learning more about themselves as well as someone who was nothing but a stranger not long ago. So, I guess this is my goodbye to a movie I wish I would never have to say goodbye to. Oh, and one more thing,
May this love find me.
