Heat
“Don’t let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner”.
That shit gotta be written down somewhere oh my goodness. Essentially, it sums up his character’s personality of having to pick the hard choice to succeed in what he does; and that’s what makes him great. The back and forth between Lieutenant Hanna and Neil is out of this world, how can they be on clear opposite sides but somehow bond so well? My clear favourite scene is the restaurant scene because they outline everything that will happen and make themselves clear.
Just to focus on Vincent’s character separately, he has some of the funniest and (in contrast) some of the most emotional scenes where he absolutely shines. His admiration for Neil is so fascinating because these guys are supposed to be enemies, but half the time Vincent is just glazing the fuck outta what Neil and his crew did. ‘You wanna know what they looking at?’…. ‘I mean is this guy something or is he something, this crew is good.’
‘You know what they looking at?’…. ‘Us… the LAPD, police department, we just got made.’
Overall, an amazing action-packed heist movie where the two main characters are the fucking goats. You know this movie is good when 2 hours and 50 minutes feels like 1 hour and 30, had me hooked from that fire ass opening to that cinematic ending. There were multiple scenes that had me hyped, had me concerned or had me waiting for a disaster to occur. THE staple of action and crime movies, gonna be one of my favourites for years to come.
