In a different life, Hugh Jackmans character uses some of the settlement money to go to the fucking doctor. Good movie nonetheless! I enjoyed the rawness of the characters especially in terms of dealing with grief and hardships. I also loved the quote about being an interpreter and not just an impersonator. Even if it isn’t your original music, it takes immense talent to decode a musicians art and then redistribute it with your own special touch without tarnishing any of the original works!! “Cover bands” get slept on but the reality is majority of musicians are “interpreters”. Elvis didn’t write his songs ‼️‼️‼️‼️

Loved the quote “People love what other people are passionate about”. I also loved how basically the theme for the entire movie was said by ryan gosling when he talked about jazz when he said “It’s conflict and compromise living side by side”. Great movie and great chemistry as expected! Idk anything about film really but something in the way it was shot was unusual and fantastic. I really liked the epilogue and how if the question they aimed at was just “what if they stayed together?” it would seem fairly surface level and predictable for a what-if scenario but they chose the approach of “what if they never got back together?” instead and I thought this was a fairly creative way of showing they absolutely needed each other for their advances in their pursuit of their dreams and aspirations along the journey but they were not meant to be each others destination perhaps :/. Although I was let down due to false hope there may be a Ryan Gosling impression of Barry B Benson’s “Ya like jazz?” quote somewhere in the movie, I still thoroughly enjoyed watching.

I could sense the impending doom of what I assumed the ending would be and when it ended, it still made me just stare at my screen motionless as the credits rolled and ads came on the screen for other movies. Truly a beautiful movie but also one I do not need to see again for a while. The chemistry between Pugh and Garfield was fantastic. I thought in particular the scene where they’re shouting at each other over her decision to do the cooking competition is one of the more beautiful scenes i’ve seen. This film really makes you reflect and think about just how much time you may spend worrying about insignificant things while the ones worth giving your time and attention may go unnoticed.
