Vortex
Who would have thought split screen can be utilized for creating some mind boggingly disturbing scenes ever put to film. The beginning of the third act sequence was realistic as balls and enough to induce sweat. This film plays with all the themes that have previously been hinted in Noe’s filmography but they couldn’t have been utilized in a better way.Taking a lot of inspiration from Amour and his personal haemorrhage, Noe crafts this with patience and dedication and with concentrated cinematography. It’s just hard to talk about Noe’s films without mentioning cinematography and he proves it in this film too. This film lacks the acid induced camera shots but it’s still remarkable to see how he handled the split screen without causing discomfort to the viewer (in terms of confusing the viewer by showing 2 different scenes at the same time).Like every Noe film, this film isn’t for everyone, the 2nd act deals the script with extreme patience and it all comes together for a brilliant 3rd act. This is Noe’s most mature film for sure, Not only in terms of the way he deals with the storyline but also how he directs it.
