Somewhere between the visual styles of Wong Kar-Wai and Michael Mann is my constant vibe 🌌 PFP: A Moment of Romance (1990, Benny Chan)

Jackie Chan's coolest film in years, it's kinda incredible that he's still making an action movie at the age of 71 while also giving some of the younger actors here plenty of moments to shine. His team is on fire, crafting some tense action setpieces, that are slightly weighed down by some unnecessarily flashy editing at times. But what surprised me even more was Tony Leung Ka-fai, not his performance because I never doubted how well he can play a menacing and layered villain, but how much he shines in his action scenes, particularly the knife fight in at the end of the second act being jaw-dropping. While yes this is a Chinese iQiYi production, it harkens back to the Hong Kong action movies I love which had a rich melodramatic component to them that feels lost in the 21st century as HK productions fell dramatically, with only a few gems popping up here and there.

Still a really special film that brings the character and superhero movies to new places cinematically. I can't wait for The Batman Part II

Hilariously thrilling to the point of absurdity, Tony Scott really knows how to maximize a middling script to its fullest potential. **"The King of Baseball"** It's got two powerhouses in De Niro and Snipes with a visual flair only someone like Tony Scott could bring, it's fairly entertaining albeit crude fun until the third act which genuinely got tense purely by the weight of its spectacle. It's far from anything special, especially in the grander scope of Scott's work but this one was just one of those 90s thrillers you can't help but enjoy
