Eighth Grade
I spent the whole movie lowkey uncomfortable and annoyed qnd anxious and then somehow at the end i was just...calm?which caught me off guard because i did NOT expect eighth grade to do that to me,i kept cringing because yeah okay turns out i sound exactly like that when i talk and that was a rude realization lmao, but the movie never makes fun of her for it,it just lets her be awkward and trying and human, and the dad storyline genuinely broke something open in me because it's so quiet and so sincere and not dramatic at all, just two people finally seeing each other, the confidence part didn't feel fake or sudden either,it felt earned in the smallest way possible ,like she didn't become cool she just became kinder to herself, i was upset for reasons that had nothing to do with the movie and somehow the ending still made me feel lighter, which says everything, didn't expect to feel this relived, didn't expect to smile, didn't expect to like this as much as i did,but yeah it got me.
