idk man, people say with this film some of it works, none of it works, or all of it works, and fortunately enough for me MOST of it worked, it really takes a lot out of me to commit to a 3 hour film, especially after i watched a long ass film prior, i have consumed a lot of brad pitt and margot robbie in one day, but shit i cant complain, i mean its just so loud and chaotic but all of it works for me like, i loved the score a lot like it really just enhances the film so much, the visuals were fucking amazing, i loved how modern yet rustic it felt and its not boring at any time in the 3 hour track length, and it has probably one of the best introductions to a film ive ever seen like that shit is so funny sorry to say it but this is probably my favorite damien chazelle, i like this more than la la land and whiplash, maybe i need to rewatch those films and give them another chance but idk man, this is literally what i envision when i want a film to just take over me, and it definitely did, it overwhelmed me in a good way, its also really funny, kind of scary and tense in some scenes, and surprisingly pretty heartbreaking, it might not be as "flawless" as other damien chazelle films but i enjoyed this way more another film where is it perfect, definitely not, it is chaotic and a big mess, A LOT of characters could've gotten fleshed out more, but its like, but idk man what damien chazelle is trying to say about careers and obsession, i felt it throughout the film, especially with manny, theres a lot of themes and symbolism that wasn't really hard to pick up on and makes me live inside the film, i went into this expecting a mess, i got it so no complaints about that, but its such a fun and enjoyable mess, brad pitt and italian probably the funniest combination in any film, he's great as always, probably my favorite margot robbie performance ive seen, diego calva fucking amazing in this, a lot of the side characters are super entertaining as well i have one pretty major complaint and that is that even though i enjoyed all 3 hours, the movie just like drags on near the end, like why does it not end after a certain scene, the first like 2 hours are actually peak cinema i was loving the fuck out of it, the film could’ve cut out like 30 minutes and had a few tweaks, and i might've given this a 10/10, i think it still deserves 5/5 stars though even with the mishaps theres just so much more that i love in this film to not give it such a high rating, its a film where although its not as flawless as whiplash or as funny as a OUATIH, its just so fucking fun that i just love it so much its a movie about hollywood and i love the way its portrayed, its so upfront and confrontational in a way that isnt convoluted or annoying, its probably my favorite movie about how hollywood swallows people and spits them back out, just portrayed in a really insane and chaotic way, i loved it, probably way more than other people and that's fine, i think critics just dont get it, this is a masterpiece from a technical aspect, and its just so brilliant and bold, those 2 words describe it the best to me, i fucking had a blast with it and i think its misunderstood, im a hard babylon defender
