Heat
whenever i watch a movie, most of the time i think its in the 4/5 range, its great, i enjoyed it, sometimes i feel as if im being too strict with my ratings, but then i watch something like this and get reminded "this is what separates a 5/5 from everything else", for some reason i've been drawn to this film for the past month, ive been holding it off due to the long ass tracklength, i recently watched The Handmaiden, thought it was great, but it felt super long, this is 20 minutes longer, but this flows by so smoothly, you truly dont feel the duration, movies with beautiful visuals and an amazing score always get rated higher for me, but its not only the score that sounds good, the movie overall just sounds fantastic, one of the best uses of color ive ever seen, al pacino and robert de niro are just the greatest, probably their best film together ahead of the godfather 2
i headed into this thinking it was just going to be a heist movie that i was no doubt going to enjoy, but it touches on things that completely subverted my expectations, its more emotional than i thought, it dives into the actual characters a lot, but when the action is there, its amazing, not a perfect 10/10, some of the subplots are a little muddled and didnt feel as cohesive as i would like, probably will dissipate on a rewatch, but it still deserves a 5/5, i had such a good time with this, one of the coolest heist action movies ever made, one of the sleekest atmospheres that pulls you in and never lets go, so many memorable scenes, when i watch a movie, i want to feel something, and this gets my blood pumping, i cant wait to rewatch this, this has the UMPH that i dont get out of christopher nolan films, i love it, its a masterpiece
