WHY DID NOBODY HOLD MY HANDS 😭😭😭😭 I love how beautifully written this film is. It has the right amount of saying out loud the things I’m already thinking while still leaving me with so much to think about after it’s over. Everybody handled the situation in the most human way possible. Nobody was really wrong, nobody was a villain, which made it hurt even more. They’re not letting go of a relationship that actually happened. They’re letting go of what could’ve been. A whole life that never existed, but came so close to existing. Instead of forcing it to happen now, they leave it to past lives, future lives, or whatever other version of themselves might exist somewhere else. I loved how the film handled Arthur. I don’t think he was insecure because he didn’t trust Nora or because he thought she didn’t love him. I think he was insecure because he couldn’t help but feel like Hae Sung was part of a story that started long before he arrived. A story that sounds more romantic, more fated, more cinematic. He’s scared of something that happened before he even came into the picture. But deep down, he knows what he and Nora have is real. He’s not competing against another relationship. He’s competing against a possibility. Against a version of her life that he’ll never get to be part of. And honestly, I think that’s why the ending is just something to me. Nora and Hae Sung loved each other for who they were, but it’s also who they were that made them never happen. He always knew she was a leaver. Even when they were kids, she was ambitious, always looking ahead, always reaching for something bigger. That’s one of the things he loved most about her. He admired her drive, her curiosity, the way she refused to stay in one place just because it was familiar. But at the same time, that’s exactly what pulled them apart. The qualities that made her Nora, the qualities that made him love her, were the same qualities that led her away from him. Neither of them did anything wrong. They just wanted different things from life, and Nora was always going to follow the path that called her forward. They were so close, yet somehow still a lifetime apart. I knew exactly where this movie was going from the beginning, and somehow that made it hurt even more. There were no surprises, no dramatic twists, just two people slowly realizing that loving each other or the version of themselves with one another wasn’t enough to change who they are or the lives they had chosen. It doesn’t end with regret or resentment, just the acceptance that some people are meant to shape your life without ever truly being part of it.
