An adequate watch. I found the first two-thirds reasonably enjoyable, but the final act completely lost me. It became just questionable reveals after questionable reveals that felt dumb and childish. The sci-fi elements felt especially out of place. It never felt like London in the 1900s; the setting lacked any real sense of time or place and could just as easily have been almost any where or almost any when (for most of the film). Overall, it's a neat enough film and worth a watch, but I can't understand why it is soo liked. It's definitely overrated.

A nice film that is extremely shallow, predictable and overstays its welcome, but is a acceptable adventure film that I don't entirely regret seeing. It attempts to be funny and every time it fails horribly. Nice but not worth going out of your way for.

I went into this movie with such low expectations, but it completely blew me away. I could never have expected that the monkey movie could leave me with such a lasting sense of sorrow and despair. I could never have expected that the monkey movie would remind me of some of the writings of Nietzsche and cause me to really ponder what love is, what humanity is, and the effects of the extremes of sin on bystanders and fellow siners. This is one of the most thought-provoking films I have had the honour of experiencing. I will never forget this film, as it holds such a deep place in my heart, due to how personal it feels for me. Truly a masterpiece.

Just a cash grab attempting to copy the original, leaving out most of what made the first one so great. It is rather enjoyable and doesn't overstay its welcome. An unnecessary sequel, but not an unenjoyable one.
