Blue Velvet

At first, the dreamlike ending fooled me, and I thought it was some kind of alternate reality and that Jeffrey had died in the closet. But after looking at Reddit, someone said it was meant to symbolise “the community returning to wilful ignorance of its seedy underbelly,” and now I really see it. I think this film used bugs as a symbol for the evil that lies hidden within the community, especially in the first and last scenes. I still don’t fully understand it. Maybe that’s part of the experience.
