lady bird is a teenage girl that thinks sacramento isn’t grand enough to display how special and different she is. meanwhile, she’s looking for approval and attention from everyone around her. she’s a cringy teenager who lusts for individuality but conforms to those “cooler” than she is to make herself feel special. the relationship between lady bird and her mother was beautifully portrayed as a mother and daughter who both love but don’t understand the other. the family dynamic felt like a real, strained family that doesn’t know how exactly to express their love for one another. there’s so much relatable, teenage cringe in this movie that makes you think ‘I know that person’ in this movie. lady bird treated those around her unfairly, like her best friend or her mom, but was also treated unfairly herself. lady bird is simply a teenage girl from sacramento.
