boy do i have a lot to say about this movie, firstly denis villeneuve THE MAN you are, flims of his never miss and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. From the use of yellows to showcase the ambiance being so cutthroat to this movie putting me at the edge of my seat every second of it. it definitely did take me a couple of rewinds to understand the whole concept of anthony/adam being the same person just different personas and when it clicked in my head i was SHOCKED. the symbolism of the spider representing cheating and realization is also beautiful as adam in the end gets to key to the sex club realizing that he cannot escape his own desires. All throughout the film i experienced such intimacy with the two different personas, especially during the scene where when helen goes to see adam at his workplace, she doesn’t see a stranger, rather her own cheating husband trying to escape that reality. Both sides overriden with guilt, i think jake gyllenhaal deserves that oscar.
