I began watching this during the late hours of last night and was honestly having a great time. Unfortunately though I was a little too successful in sharing the headspace of our main character and ended up succumbing to my inner senses and falling into a deep slumber. I awoke a few hours later frustrated at my self, but committed to returning the next day to finish it. Originally my thought process was to just pick up where i left off but after further consideration I decided to just restart it all together, and boy am I glad I did. It was worth it just for the sheer fact of being able to watch the opening credits twice.
I loved pretty much everything about this, the performances, the story, the cinematography, the humor, the amazing editing, it all works so perfectly. This is my first Gregg Araki film but I’m definitely interested to see more now, he manages to capture the feeling off being overly high in a both hilarious, and stressful way. Jane is in her own personal bubble and the rest of the world is just along for the ride trying to make sense of her antics. The editing is calculated yet all over the place and the film looks so bright and colorful. I don’t even know how to describe the style this film adapts but I love it.
Anna Faris is so so good in this it’s probably the best I’ve ever seen someone act stoned, and it’s honestly up their with best performance in a comedy period. I also love watching John Krasinski do his best Dwight Shrute impression, although I do wish we got to see even more of him. Besides that one little thing though I don’t think I could think of any other complaints if I tried. I want to watch it again and put the homies on. 9.5/10
