Fallen Angels
This movie shines in its cinematography, characters and atmosphere. The maritime can feel a bit disjointed at times, but comes together in the end to make a coherent ending.
The use of high color saturation and a near constant close up perspective throughout the movie uniquely help to capture a vivid recreation of the nightlife of a mega city like Hong Kong. It simultaneously captures the immobility of a life of crime and the hope that love brings with it.
This movie has such a visceral sense of identity that I urge you to watch it purely for its unique approach to filmmaking.
P.S. - the soundtrack has some bangers on it
