Inside Out 2
What creates even greater attachment for the characters in this movie than its precursor is the added layer of complexity; the added characteristic of "humanity" to the Emotions. At usual times, the Emotions stay true to their character. Joy boosts morale with her mirth, Anger answers with rashness, and Fear is everso paranoid of all things. But this time, Joy breaks character, showing attrition in her own beliefs and identity too, the same way Riley was concurrently failing her own beliefs and chose to adopt new ones.
This is all a metaphor for how in the tough times, if you choose to focus on the wrong emotions, even joy struggles to find its own happiness. And happiness isn't something you can command yourself to feel at any given moment, yet people expect themselves to. You've got to live it out. If you want to be happy, live happily.
"It's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace."
