3rd toni colette film in, and still no normal family in sight

love is when you keep choosing each other even at your worst times. notice when celine walked out after they argued and went back to the place they both shared in a span of time—somewhere she knew jesse would think to look. she could have gone anywhere unfamiliar to him, but instead chose the one spot where she knew her love of her life would find her.

i feel satisfied yet revolted bc wdym there’s no character build-up in the film and went straight to gore mode

this might be one of the most compelling dark comedy films i’ve seen. the pacing feels so organic, the way the dialogue allowed me to feel the film’s madness—it mystified me. despite its chaotic set-up, the focal point was still made noticeable in every scene. there is so much sensory overload occurring in every frame yet my eyes were always drawn exactly where they must be. there must be something in scorsese’s formula that makes your brain engaged with his films.
