"It happened. Theres no avoiding it. No forgetting"
No one can convince me Kristen Stewart is a bad actress. It's such a shame she'll always be known for twilight considering she was only 13/14 while playing such a heartbreakingly real role pre-twilight. I had such a heavy heart throughout this entire movie and it's clear during the first few minutes it was directed by a women as I've never seen a man portrayed the experience of a teen girl even close to as accurately as this film did. The way Andy taunts Melinda genuinely made me nauseous at several points and her inability to even voice what happened to her hit me really hard. This is such a powerful film in the way it makes you feel. The sexual assault and the toll it takes on you were portrayed so well making this an absolutely devastating watch.
The first time I watched this I had to stop after the scene with Andy in the car. I'm not sure if it's just because I've been exactly where Melinda was before and I knew what it was like to go through something so horrible and have absolutely no one to turn to but even on my second watch I had to take a break after that to compose myself.
