Elvis
A lot of the reviews that are more on the negative side - I agree with. I blindly went into this movie knowing not a single thing about Elvis or who even directed this but quickly could tell who it was that did the movie. All the fast pacing pan out shots like in Gatsby gave me motion sickness. I also was so confused why Austin was so highly praised for this role. However, I came home and saw a few videos of side-by-side comparisons of specific scenes and came to realize just why he was getting the praise. I get it. He actually did such a phenomenal job. I didn’t mind that the story was mostly about the behind the scenes of Elvis, in fact that’s partially why I was able to enjoy it. I really wish they would’ve gone more deeper and grittier with the story since there’s a deeper more dark side to it - but Priscilla praising the movie really solidified its low-key greatness to me. I’m actually itching to be able to watch it again, soon. Which is shocking to me since I had left the theater not caring for the movie at first.
