Honestly I was so hyped for this movie and then I saw a lot of reviews and that people were disappointed in it and yes it’s not perfect but I kind of liked it. I mean for the rock to do this movie it’s a totally different world for him since he is not a dramatic actor, and I am impressed. It’s nothing like when Adam Sandler goes drama because that’s truly impressive but the rock still did good. I loved Emily blunt she did amazing I thought. I mean if we’re being honest Benny Safdie isn’t the same without his brother and when it comes to their solo careers Josh definitely has Benny beat but I still liked what he did here. Clear Safdie when during high intensity moments they add certain music to elevate the moment and you really get thrilled from what you’re watching. My only con is I feel this movie could’ve gone so much deeper and could’ve been a lot more than it was. Like I can imagine a version that’s damn near perfection. Still I’m happy I watched it and I’m happy to see the rock do this and Benny doing something like this. I can’t imagine it’ll win anything but let’s see.

Happy 31st (and two days) birthday Pulp Fiction. I think this movie is important to watch again and again because it’s so good and so important in film history. I swear I quote “say what again say what again I dare you I double dare you mother fucker” every single day. I also think this movie is perfectly cast to the tee, I don’t think I could imagine a single person casted differently. Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, Sam Jackson, John Travolta. I also just want to reiterate my love for Uma Thurman, holy shit I think about her everyday. Her work in this and Kill Bill, she is pure perfection, she’s strong, beautiful, unique, and one of my favorite actresses. The story is quite all over obviously but it’s just one of those movies once again kind of like fight club. It’s so fucking different and so changing and influential for everything to follow. It’s truly impressive that this is Tarantinos second movie ever. So iconic and so many things and quotes that I think about all the time. Sometime just “Yolanda!” Gets stuck in my head. Not my favorite movie and not my favorite Tarantino but it’s still so good and one of those that will always be good.

Happy 26th birthday Fight Club! The more you watch a movie like this the more every word sinks and every meaning is really felt. I really like the story (I’m not sure how true it is) that after they premiered this at a film festival that the audience booed or didn’t applaud or something and Brad Pitt turned to Fincher or Edward Norton and told him “that’s the best movie I’ll ever be in” as they booed. Which makes sense because on first viewing especially in 1999 I’m sure how seeing something like this could be so different and seem like it’s bad but truly there is a deeper meaning to it that span numerous topics in the world at the time. Which some themes that still apply today which is cool. This is such a well made and important film that it’s sad that it kind of gets lost to the “film bro” movies. The idea of just letting go of your everyday objects and materialism that society forces on you. I think about Tyler holding the gun to the head of the convenient store clerk and scaring him shitless but it was just to get him to follow his dreams. I mean that a fucked up way to do it yes but it’s an important thing to think about that you need to fear death enough to do what you really want. That along with all the fuck you against the big corporations of society. Such a vast story, I’ll stand by it. Read the account bio.
