Prisoners
When a movie is as popular as it is, you expect it to be digestible and masterful. Not only is it digestible, but I think my stomach acid pH could change for this. While on the surface yes it is deceptively simple, but the themes and the questions it indirectly asks us throughout the narrative without poking it to our face is incredible. Kelly and Loki are so complex and their characters are so good, any criticism I hear for either of their characters is wrong because that is the point. Lokis persistence and Kelly doing whatever it takes despite it may be being pointless.
It is masterful in its acting and cinematography. Making a suburban cul-de-sac-esque film look this tangible is ridiculous. What I’ll say about Jake and Hugh’s performance has already been said, but they are simply outstanding. From what I’ve seen of both of them, this is their best performance so far.
If you haven’t seen this and want a really damn good film to watch, this is it.
Lowkey this might be the Riddlers origin story.
