Everything that made Annie Wilkes a horrifying insidious psychopath, the manipulation, the graphic scenes, the slow progress of her harm towards paul from simple rage fits, to cutting his thumb just because she felt like it, was gone. Instead we have a much milder version that is catering to the general public in a way that completely erases the ethos of what made the book great. Movie Annie is much more sane and easy to sympathize with. They even made her somewhat thin and small instead of the plump towering Book Annie. To me the book was not a classic "horror" book. Instead it was a deep character study of the psyche of writers and writing and also of the very complex and interesting psychopath. Annie. The movie on the other hand, is just another run-of-the-mill horror that you watch on a friday night that has no real value or depth, and leaves you with nothing more to think about other than "damn, that chick’s crazy." As a fan of the book, this was such a disappointing adaptation. P.S Kathy Bates i love you this wasn’t about youCommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
