Psycho
Alfred Hitchcock, for his time, feels like the master of suspense and this time around he proved he could very well work with the horror genre too.
I think it's fair to say it's one of if not the most influential movies from this genre, and laid the foundation for plot twists too. The audience back then must have felt overwhelmed by it all, even though slasher films have been saturated and the twists are all out, it still magnificently holds up. I for one watched it without any knowledge and went in blind, living under a rock and not knowing THAT twist surely paid off here.
The pacing was brilliant and Anthony Perkins was absolutely wonderful, capturing the socially awkward but creepy Norman Bates. His creepiness overshadowed the actual murder. I think it's fucking amazing how a "slasher" film didn't exploit the usage of blood, gore and violence. It was just the creepy atmosphere, I personally think the black and white added more suspense to it than if it had been in color.
An absolute classic, I was not bored for a minute.
