Spirited Away
My first Studio Ghibli film and yeah I'm sold. The animation was so so beautiful man and I find it more enthralling than 3D animation, it shows much more personality.
This movie felt like something from a dream, like the visuals and the soundtrack just weirdly dreamlike and in a way comforting? Also the story is something you'd see in a dream.
There was so much symbolism too, especially the whole concept of capitalism and then people being gray. Also, I loved the fact that she tripped over the stairs to the boiler room at the very start and then at the end mustered up the courage to ride a fucking dragon across a whole body of water.
The movie was wacky, goofy, nonsensical at times, but it's literally those elements which made this movie feel like a warm hug, and that is rare.
