Battle Royale
Rewatched this after like 4–5 years. First time I saw it I was way TOO high and surrounded by friends—couldn’t focus, barely remember anything. So this was basically a fresh watch… and yeah, it slaps.
What I love is how watchable this is. It’s fast, chaotic, and full of energy. Perfect for people with a short attention span, but it still hits on some very real instincts—fear, survival, desperation. The lighthouse scene is executed very well for exactly that reason—how quick one misunderstanding can unravel people when death is around the corner. FAITH VS CHAOS
Feels like a live-action anime in the best way. Not just because it’s Japanese, but because each student feels like an exaggerated archetype—cartoonish, but grounded just enough to feel human. That balance is hard to pull off without it feeling cringe, and somehow Battle Royale pulled it off.
The action’s raw, the emotions spike at the right moments, and the island setting is beautiful (especially watching this while actually being in Japan). It’s not trying to be deep, but it still says a lot about what fear does to people. Even the ending—kind of cliché—just works.
I’m not touching the sequel. But this one? Timeless. Iconic. And definitely a MUST WATCH ⭑⚖️⭑
