Bones and All
Everyone wears a mask. Everyone has a disturbing side to themselves that they choose to keep to themselves, you know. For some people it’s more intense than for others. Everybody has deep, dark thoughts some darker than others.
The most beautiful thing is to be around people who you feel like you can share anything with. This movie explores this idea. But it also shows you how choosing to show your face without the mask can have some negative consequences.
At the end of the day, this movie is a love story. And I feel like it’s shown in a quite unique and original way. I love it when there’s balance, when people create contrast. It’s like these two contrasting ideas that create a beautiful harmony. The sweetness and tenderness of the love mixed with this really intense, gruesome idea of cannibalism.
The time that this movie has been set in is also interesting. Released in 2022, but I feel like the story itself is being depicted in the late 80s, early 90s. Which already creates a different atmosphere.
And also, mixed with this idea of almost this breed of cannibals, it makes this movie quite dreamy in a twisted but good way.
I think the cinematography of the movie is good. The colors are beautiful. I’ve read that the movie is quite slow-paced, but I don’t think it’s slow-paced in a way that it should bother to many. It adds to the storyline. It gives you some time to breathe, some time to process what you’re seeing, and kind of get used to the scenery, environment, and the idea.
Chaos. Harmony. Contrast. Balance. Love.
