Possession
Possession is such a strange but fascinating film. It balances intensity and monotony in a way that really creeps up on you. It starts off feeling kind of normal, almost theatrical, but as it goes on, it spirals deeper into chaos. The theatricality in the beginning didn’t fully make sense to me at first, but the further I got into it, the more I understood how it sets the tone for the absurdness that follows.
The metro station scene, where the woman has a kind of miscarriage, really stuck with me. I know it sounds disturbing to say I “liked” it, but the raw emotion, her laughing, the way the groceries hit the wall…it felt like performance art. Unhinged in the best way.
I had this movie on my watchlist for a long time, and I’m glad I finally saw it. It’s weird, but i love weird. And seeing the Berlin Wall in the background adds a nice touch
