Practical Magic
i will raise my family in a house like that. practical magic has always been one of my top four favorite movies. there’s something about it that feels comforting in a way that’s hard to explain. the music, the cozy fall atmosphere, the house, the ocean, the candles, all of it creates this feeling that’s warm and a magical at the same time. every time i watch it i feel the same lightness.
one of the things i love most about the movie is how it centers women and the strength they have. it shows that women can raise a family on their own, support each other, and still build beautiful lives even after heartbreak and loss. but it also reminds you that being strong and independent doesn’t mean you don’t deserve love. the women in this story deserve the right kind of love and the right kind of men, and that balance is something i’ve always appreciated about the film.
i also just love how beautifully women are presented in this movie. there’s something so natural and powerful about the way femininity, sisterhood, and friendship are shown. it doesn’t feel forced, it just feels real and full of warmth.
this movie always leaves me feeling softer and a little lighter. it’s cozy, emotional, a little witchy, and full of heart. it’s the kind of movie that feels like comfort every time i return to it, which is why it will always be one of my favorites.
