Cleaners
*lahat naman tayo ay naging cleaners. *— i said to myself after watching
i almost dismissed it at first because of the first act, which I DID NOT EXPECT AT ALL 😭 but the more i delved deeper into the narrative, the more everything sank in. watching cleaners felt like that meme with the miner searching for diamonds and stopping midway. it's the only way i can explain it. I WAS THE MINER, AT SOME POINT, CANNOT DENY THAT.
AAAH COMING OF AGE FILM THAT'S INTRICATELY INVENTIVE IN ITS OWN WAY !! i saw myself pondering over how we've raised ourselves through these years — the urge to scrub away things that set us apart from the majority, to sanitize our youth, to be clean in the eyes of others while we are simultaneously erasing who we truly are.
cleaners is a wonderful exercise in sonder — that sudden thought in the back of your head that every person around you has a life as vivid and, at the same time, chaotic as the very life you're living. YES, IT DEPICTS LIFE AS A DISCOMFORT AT ITS VERY PUREST. however that's the truth we all have to face apparently. everything is flawed — it's on us to see the beauty and purpose in it. 🥹
each frame is just wow !! 👏 it perfectly encapsulates the essence of living a filipino life — messy but raw. the plot is so specific yet so universal — i said, as someone who feels everything life has to offer me. this film had me feeling nostalgic. AND I AM TOO YOUNG TO BE THIS NOSTALGIC!!! id put myself in a teenager's body in every lifetime 😞🤞
at the end of the day, while we're busy cleaning ourselves, the dirt will never leave us — but we can learn how to carry it inside and out, gently. 🤍
side note: ANG GANDA WTF I CAN'T THINK OF A FUNNY ONE LINER, I HAD TO LOCK IN. it reminded me how i loved being filipino, kahit minsan nakakabaliw haha need more of these bruuuh SO MUCH TALENT IN ONE FILM HUHUHU DESERVE NG STANDING OVATION
