A Clockwork Orange
The first part of this movie had me pretty lost and for the first forty minutes I was not fully sure what it was trying to tell you as a person watching. Once the story started moving more it began to make sense and the idea of free will as an issue. It starts asking whether someone can be called good or evil if they no longer have the ability to choose for themselves. As it goes on the way the government steps in feels more like control than help. It reminded me of modern dystopian stuff where society claims to fix a problem but ends up making things worse. Kubrick’s music soundtrack for his movies create a really unsettling mood. By the end it feels like the character is paying for everything for everything he’s and you start to feel bad for him almost.
