Nosferatu
Robert Eggers' work piqued my interest for the longest time and even though i watched the Lighthouse and loved the mythological Promethean dynamic there i still couldn't get into the atmosphere he creates for his movies. However, Nosferatu not only continues that atmosphere but makes it tremendously more accessible for viewers and he's almost the polar opposite of Wes Anderson in a way because of how idiosyncratic his directing is nevertheless in a grim, Gothic and haunting way. The difference between TL and Nosferatu in terms of cinematography is infinitesimal but I feel like he improved a lot with this one not to discredit his previous work because it might be fair to crown him king of atmospheric horror at this point. This remake is everything a remake should be and it feels like more of a re-adapatation of the original Nosferatu if that makes sense and actually makes Gothic horror look like what it should on screen which has very seldom been executed by other directors.
