Excision

A strange coming of age horror dark comedy drama that was surely unique, thought it would be a more straightforward horror character study but by the beginning scene alone- I can already tell that it's gonna be a bit different. I wish it went further with it's premise like the dream sequences were bizarrely wonderful but they could've done much more in the reality aspect to balance with it as well like the finale was wonderfully unsettling, wish it had more of that though I get that it was more about building up to it. It's got an intentionally awkward tension throughout which was honestly not even fun to watch and the characters kinda felt bland other than the main character whom I thoroughly enjoyed cause of her interesting personality and how relatable she can be. There's fantastic gore displayed here though it still doesn't save the film from being boring to watch at times but it's relatively short runtime makes it easy to watch.
