Hokum

While I wasn't as big of a fan of Oddity as everyone else— I was still pretty impressed by the scares and it had a great atmosphere so for my birthday today I chose to celebrate by going to the cinema to experience Hokum and I can definitely say that this movie was the literal definition of a spookfest. Firstly I love the creepy sort of wailing voice as the score/sound effects that we hear throughout the film which was just so eerie to witness at the theater and Damian McCarthy also did a good job with the build up of the jumpscares BUTT...if I'm being honest, the anticipation was far more effective than the jumpscares itself cause they were all straightforward and you could see them from a mile away which was a little underwhelming. I love the pure spooky vibes together with the hotel setting, made it feel like a horror videogame walkthrough which was fun. The story itself though wasn't as cohesive and I wished the plot elements had tied together better but overall it did great for the creepy scares and spooky atmosphere that it was trying to achieve, also wished we got more scenes with the uncanny terrifying bunny.... while I think I enjoyed this more than Oddity, I will admit that Oddity had a far better memorable ending
