Maniac

Woww didn't know it was gonna be mostly a first person point of view movie so it was a nice surprise as it offered the movie a very unique style and perspective for a horror flick. We follow along the main character and his demented journey as he goes on murdering women and collecting their scalps for his mannequin collection and off the bat- the gore in this film was amazing, the effects were really well done and great in my opinion. Really liked the soundtrack too and there's some very nice chase sequences thrown in here as well. I really have a thing for unstable main leads type horror films as they offer you a chance to really get inside their head and explore their insanity. As well made it was, the backstory parts doesn't really add a lot more depth as to what's happening in the film- felt a bit too simplistic and the female characters felt more like a caricature and were devoid of any real personality. In general though, it's still a gory entertaining character study type of horror film and would easily recommend this to any horror fans as it's a slasher film at it's most stylish.
