The Thing

Obviously I've always known of The Thing as this classic horror sci-fi body horror masterpiece and it's been referenced so many times in media before but I've actually only watched like a couple clips on YouTube as a child and never fully watched it but now after finishing the movie- it unsurprisingly exceeded all my expectations. A simple premise executed in a terrifying and grotesque way, I can't express enough at how impressed I was by the practical effects- like this is PEAK special effects as it literally still holds up to this day goddamn, not to mention how horrifying it was depicted. The isolation, suspicion and dread was portrayed amazingly well and I love the location as it made for such an effective atmosphere. The body transformations are top notch, I love how detailed it was and that it didn't felt restrained at all. Overall it's easy to see why this film has gained the reputation it has.
