*“I live* *I die* *I live again”* Mad Max Fury Road is certainly a Mad Max film. The perfect amount of absolutely ridiculous characters and great practical effects. As much as like Tom Hardy his version of Max doesn’t do it for me. Is he trying to do an Australian accent? Sounds bloody awful. I could do better than that and I’m not even Australian. Mel Gibson will always be Mad Max no matter how controversial and despised he becomes. I like how they brought back Hugh Keays-Byrne from the original as the main villain Immortan Joe. He was also Toecutter from the original. Cool to bring him back. He’s a lot more menacing this time and is less insane. I wasn’t expecting to like Nicholas Hoult’s character Nux as much as I did. He was raised for one thing and one thing only. To get blown up or die in some over the top way like getting his face ripped off. But no you feel bad for him because he’s got two tumours and wants to go out in a blaze of glory. He’s pretty cool though. Wish he was in it more. I don’t care for Charlize Theron. She’s an actor that can act. Her character is pretty badass I will admit. I don’t understand why she’s not Australian. I know irl she’s from South Africa but she does an American accent. Why? It was the same for the Mad Max game where the majority of characters spoke with American accents. Why? I still prefer Road Warrior over this just because it’s the first one I saw and is an absolute classic. This film changes parts of the lore which I don’t really care that they changed. I thought all the practical effects looked absolutely brilliant and the editing was also good (I know the editor won an Oscar for it). If you like Mad Max you’ll definitely have seen this.
